Nobody looks forward to needing a workers’ compensation attorney. But if you are in this position because your workers’ compensation claim was denied or you’ve suffered a life-changing work injury or illness, it’s vital to seek help from a professional who is qualified, honest and trustworthy. With so many legal practitioners out there, this can be a difficult task, especially if you’ve never had to hire an attorney before.

When searching for the best attorney, a good place to start is by reviewing prospective attorneys’ accolades and awards from authoritative organizations—not to congratulate them, but rather because these distinctions can be a reliable indication of their experience and qualifications.

So if you are looking for the best workers’ compensation attorney in Montana, you may be interested in knowing that Founder and Senior Partner of Murphy Law Firm, Thomas J. Murphy (Big Tom, to us), recently received the prestigious President’s Award from the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) at their 2021 national convention in Palm Beach, Florida.

Remarkably, this is the second time Big Tom has received this award—an accomplishment few workers’ compensation attorneys have achieved—which demonstrates his dedication to protecting the rights of injured workers in Montana. He was first awarded this honor in 2019.

“I’m honored and humbled to be chosen for this award once again,” said Tom. “I’ve always been passionate about helping injured Montanans and their families recover, and I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to make a difference in the lives of my clients.”

About WILG’s President’s Award

The Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group is a national non-profit organization of legal professionals “dedicated to representing the interests of millions of workers and their families suffering from work-related injuries or occupational illnesses.” WILG also aims to equip attorneys and non-profit groups with vital information to provide better legal assistance, quality medical care and other recovery efforts for injured workers and their families.

Each year, WILG presents its coveted President’s Award to a select few work injury attorneys from its national network of over 1,100 members who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. The 6 award winners each year are chosen by the President of WILG.

Tom Murphy currently serves on the WILG Board of Directors.

An award-winning Montana attorney

In addition to earning WILG’s President’s Award twice, Big Tom has been recognized as one of WILG’s Top 100 injured worker’s attorneys.

Since he founded Murphy Law Firm in 1998, he has also been honored by a number of other prestigious legal organizations and associations—including the Appellate Advocacy Award from the Montana Trial Lawyers Association. He was also the first Montana attorney to be a member of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers
